With more and more food safety incidents occurring across the world due to poor security and administrative controls, it is imperative for the food industry to implement a strong and robust management system to control and demonstrate a Food and drink defence management system.
PAS 96 was published in coordination with major food manufacturers and launched in October 2014.
The main highlights of this standard
- TACCP – Threat Assessment Critical control point. Although most food companies possess a HACCP, this tool revolves around the various vulnerabilities and methodologies to control the same. TACCP is carried out by a team from Security, HR and Administrator to understand the various possibilities of threat and control of the same.
- Understanding the attacker – From Internal employees to Interested parties, motive of these attackers could be from sabotage to money extortion.
- Review of controls on assessment. – All controls needs to be assessed and improved over time to maintain low incidents and provide safe food to consumers.
